Moving on to a new stage in life can be a challenging process—especially as you’re transitioning from high school to college. By no means am I trying to scare you, but your first semester of college is a VERY critical time. Failure in the first semester of college (specifically), is one of the leading causes for college dropouts. You’d think that poor grades are the only reason why people give up on college..but to my surprise (and almost reality)–not being able to afford college is indicator number 1. I would love more than anything to help.
My scholarship is intended to aide talented students like you when it’s time to purchase your steeply-priced required college textbooks. According to national data, for just one semester alone, you will spend on average at least $300 on your books. After paying your tuition, you will come to see very quickly why the term “Broke College Student” is widely used. Plus-there is no way you can get around purchasing your textbooks (trust me, I’ve tried). Scrapping up change for tuition is already stressful; your textbooks only add to it.
I am hoping $500 will help steer your mind clear from out-of-pocket textbook expenses for a bit. That focus should be devoted on your school work. It is extremely important to me that you transition to college with ease and have an enjoyable, memorable freshman year.
Thank you so much for applying to my scholarship. I wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors.
